| Lead Based Paint Toy Recall | ||
|
The recent recall of toys made overseas by major toy companies has caused a great deal concern among parents. Lead poisoning can cause learning problems and discipline problems that may be so subtle that they may be difficult to detect until later in your child's life. If lead poisoning is severe then symptoms such as constipation and abdominal pain may be present. Most lead poisoning occurs from the incidental ingestion of lead dust from lead based paint on houses built prior to 1978. Our policy is to routinely screen for lead poisoning at the nine month old and two year old checkups. If your child has been exposed to the recalled toys or any other known source of lead poisoning we will be happy to send off a blood sample for lead level for you. To help you determine if your child has been exposed we are providing a link to Mattel's website tool for lead paint recall. |
